LS Instruments AG, a spin-off of the University of Fribourg, is a technology leader in the field of optical characterization of nanoparticles. LS Instruments develops advanced scientific instruments for analytical applications in life sciences, food, personal care, and many more.

Rising investments in the pharmaceutical industry, increasing regulatory requirements for medical products, and the recent successful launch of vaccines based on mRNA technology related to COVID-19 have led to a global increase in demand for high-precision nanoparticle analytical solutions.

In this context, we are enlarging our team and are looking for reinforcement.

We are looking for a dynamic person to join us as a Senior LabVIEW Software Engineer to take the lead on the software development effort geared at driving the hardware of our instruments.

Your responsibilities

» Leading the architectural design, development, and maintenance of the OOP-based modular frameworks used to interface the high-level end-user software with the low-level instrument operation

» Maintain and extend the existing low-level OOP LabVIEW device drivers used for the low-level communication with the instrument

» Software documentation, versioning, and release management

Your profile

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar, and be capable of working independently and in cross-disciplinary teams. She/He should be able to contribute to the team effort as well as be self-motivated and proactive in concluding her/his assigned tasks according to the company goals. She/he should possess the following technical skills:

» 5+ years of LabVIEW development experience

» Strong command of OOP design patterns

» Strong command of the LabVIEW Actor Framework

» Proficiency in at least one text-based programming language among Python, Java, or C#

» Familiarity with release management

» Good knowledge of source control management

» Solid background in IT

» Good English skills, ideally a good command of German and/or French.

» Swiss/EU citizenship or valid working permit for Switzerland

Experience in one or several of the following areas is advantageous:

» RESTful and Web service architectures

» WebSockets services architectures

» Serial Communication Protocols

» Numerical computation and data treatment

» Agile development methods

» Hardware communication and instrument control
